    Default My Habbox Council Suggestion

    Hello ladies, gentleman and homosexuals!

I've noticed tonight that the idea reintroducing the "Habbox Council" has caused a little controversy :eusa_danc. Therefore I am going to take the initiative here and look at setting it up with as minimal controversy as possible.

In nvr's post here he explained that if a Habbox Council were to be established, then it would be ran by the members and if it made any difference they would recognise it as "semi-official". I have no burning desire to be involved, however as it was my suggestion I am appointing myself head of arranging the council until it is established and then I will step away and let it do it's ting. If anyone really disagrees with this then please let me know and I will look at some other way of sorting it. Just to clarify, this does not make me head of the council or whatever. Just gonna get it set up!

So, how would the Habbox Council work? Basically the way I am looking at it is that we would have the following system:

    Habbox Council Chair

The chair of the council will arrange meetings with the representatives and just govern what is going on. The chair has no seniority as such, he merely adjudicates meetings and writes a report for each meeting that he brings back for all members to look at.

There will then be a number of representatives, each representing a relevant group of members:

    Management Representative
    Staff Representative
    Habbo Representative
    Games Representative
    Technology Representative
    General Representative

If anyone can think of any other representatives, feel free to PM me and I will add it to the list if I think it is relevant.

The chair and the representatives will meet up on what would probably be a monthly basis and discuss how they think the Forum is doing, how they feel management are performing and how their member base is feeling in regards to these issues. The council chair will then present a report on the basis of the discussion and present in, in Habbox Feedback, to the rest of the Forum to be discussed.

Members of the Habbox Council will be democratically elected into their positions, and elections will be held every three or six months (this is something I would like members to decide). If any member of the council steps down then elections for that position will be held.

To start us off PLEASE PM ME ANYONE YOU WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE FOR ANY OF THE POSITIONS ABOVE. YOU CANNOT NOMINATE YOURSELF. Once I receive the nominations I will post voting threads for the nominees of each position on a set time limit and the winners will form the first Habbox Council.

    To summarise:

    • This is totally unofficial!
    • PM me the nominations.
    • Votes for the chair and reps will then be held.
    • Habbox Council will be formed, at which point the council itself will decide it's specific roles and responsibilities in accordance to the opinion of the members.

If you have any suggestions either PM me or post them here and I will have an SMod incorporate them into the thread where appropriate!

For the record - THOMAS - I don't necessarily how beneficial this will or will not be, however I thought as people are starting to mention it I would just get on and do it.

"Management representative" added at thread starters request - invincible (Forum Super Moderator)

Closed by invincible (Forum Super Moderator) as the thread starter has seen flaws in the idea and decided to withdraw it.

I can't speak for anybody hear but myself, but from what nvrspk4 has said previously recently and publicly about a Habbox Council, it doesn't look like he was too keen on taking it on. As he so rightly pointed out, the feedback forum gets listened to a hell of a lot more than under previous General Managers.

I think it's a good idea. I know it's already been spoken about by myself and GommeInc on MSN after nvr had made his post. I personally think it will only work if it's senior members who management are going to take serious. I'm not just saying that because nvr singled Me, Ryan and Mentor out has experienced and rational users but because if it was any one else the ideas wouldn't be considered. Anyway, good luck with it.

I agree which is why I think that by doing this democratically you will find nominations and the elections reflect the "senior" members of the Forum, as you like to call them .

one of my new jobs as head of the council
    Seems quite contradictory?

Good idea Garion. If any unofficial council is to be set up then it should be democratic.

I will be PMing you my nominations shortly

This is exactly the same as it was before only unofficial, so even less useful. As nvr actually said in the post you linked, the Council was a reaction to a non-responsive management; something that is no longer a problem as I'm sure would be widely agreed, with the exception of those few who are never happy of course.

We have a feedback thread open to everyone (cautioned members aside) which management obviously reads through, responds and often takes action on if needed.

You've put out a plan as to how it would be run and who would be a part of it, but nowhere do you mention what it would actually be useful for, and I personally can't see it having any purpose - especially considering the last Council was of practically no use and that was at a time when it was thought we needed it. Now that the original problem isn't even here what purpose do you propose this Council II will fulfill?

If I am honest, Tom, I do not know the exact role the council will fulfil. It provides a representative body for the Forum who can come together and discuss things on a smaller scale on behalf of the members of the Forum. Admittedly feedback is an excellent source of change, but often good ideas can be improperly presented and will be ignored for many reasons, including most commonly, when the thread turns into an argument. Ultimately, it is up for the members as a whole to decide the exact role of their council but basically it provides a democratically elected body who bridge the gap between management and members.

My real reason for creating this thread wasn't because I think this is an excellent idea though. I am not sure myself of the details - I was just made aware people were intending to set it up and as I was the last person to bring it up I thought I would go about setting it up in the way I intended in my post. How useful it will be all depends. If it flops, it flops! NOT MA PROBLEM :@

Before it was way to complex and just didnt work. It would have to be simple and just to have ideas thrown into the melting pot.

I've already had two people asking me if they want them to vote me. Just to make it clear I don't want to be part of any sort of council. I know I was singled out with two others who use rational and structured ideas by the General Manager.

I spoke about it with a few people and we came to the conclusion we can make just as much difference by posting as individuals in feedback. I was the management representative of the old council so was in quite a senior position. After reading Toms post (who was also part) it made me realise that if we want things changing we can just post in feedback and if it's beneficial to the forum it'll be implemented. That's all the council will do.
