Default [TUT] From 32bit to 64bit

I thought I would make a quick tutorial on doing this, as I am unaware of other OS's, but Windows 7 says you cannot install from 32bit to 64bit.

    Anyway:

If you realised you are not using all of your RAM inserted in your pc because of this it is very simple to change from 32bit to 64bit.

    What to do:

    • Put your 64bit disc in.
    • Turn off your computer
    • Turn the computer back on...
    • Go into your BIOS (When you computer turns on it normally tells you how to. On my mobo (asus) you just press 'Delete' (Del)
    • Now. One of the options at the top will be 'Boot'.
    • Use your arrow keys to move across to 'Boot'
    • Then using the down arrow keys once on boot go to 'Boot Priorty' (or something along those lines)
    • Change the boot priorty to your CD Drive - it will probably be on boot harddrive first.
    • Since you have done this it will now open up the OS download screen - with no 'you cannot do this' messages.
    • Once downloaded, take the disc out.
    • Turn off your computer.
    • Go back into the BIOS
    • Change the boot priorty back to harddrive.
All will now work - well done you have gone from 32 to 62 bit

INFORMATION: If you have spare HardDrive then you will not need to do this. Just format the HardDrive.

INFORMATION: Please be warned; formatting your HardDrive AND using the disc drive to install windows WILL wipe your HardDrive. If you have important information ALWAYS back it up.
Hopefully that will help at least one person at some point

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I don't see this as a tutorial for: "32bit to 64bit". Its just showing how to boot from the CD isn't it..

Haha I always think harddrive looks crappy lol

I wasn't planning on doing it, but then because of not being able to simply put the disc in and install 64bit to 32bit, this is a way to do it.

Another problem is if you just want to format the HDD you have to not be using it at that time. Soyou need two harddrive's so you can go on the crappy unused one, to wipe the other one

    Nope

Unless you have to HDD's you cannot go from 32 to 64bit (especially for windows 7) god knows why.

So sort of - but it is just giving the method of how to get round the 'you can't install this' rubbish

If you put the disk in it does not open.

What are you on about? Assuming you've got the boot priority right so that it boots from the DVD then it will start the windows installation from the disc (If all the options are available is another issue) regardless of what operating system you currently have installed.

    THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT.

The TUT was all about helping users change the boot priorty etc so they CAN go from 32 to 64bit.

If you do not know how to do the boot priorty stuff then you cannot install it (unless you have two HDD's)

    1. You need the right boot priority to install Windows from a DVD/CD anyway, regardless of if you are going from 32bit to 64 bit or just a fresh install
    2. The number of hard drives is irrevelent as to if you can boot from a CD/DVD as it depends on your boot sequence - you could have a million hard drives and still not be able to boot into a CD/DVD

This is just a simple tutorial on how to change your boot sequence, nothing to do with 32bit to 64bit.

But why were you saying you need two hard drives?

You boot the CD, do custom install, click the HDD, click format, press next, put the product key in, agree to the EULA, click next, reboot, Windows starts, finishes install, setup user account, then you are ready to go.

THIS is how to go 64bit and is also your tutorial in one sentence ;D
