    Default Change in Bans?

Before I start, I know some people will hate this idea - as it will mean they can't cause arguements on the forum,

However I think if a user has had there account Permanently Banned they should not be able to register for two weeks within this time. As you could ban me right this second, then I could sign up and do the same thing, over, and over, and over again.

    Just a thought.

    Thoughts?

I agree. Its the same as Habbo.

For example, a person comes into a room, floods their phisher, gets permed, makes another account then does the exact same thing.

Maybe habbox should adopt IP bans, like Habbo, if they dont already have them

Yeh. Even if they don't do that, it would normally be obvious if a user who has been perm banned is using a different account And if the user who has been banned, is secretly using a different account, if they are not causing any trouble, whos to care.

Atleast it might try and stop people causing too much trouble.

I think that IP Bans are too risky as you could end up banning more than one person (not sure about that but I remember hearing it ages ago). But the idea isn't a bad one although most people that are stupid enough to get banned in the first place probably have another account or can probably get around it somehow. Also, isn't this the point of having to approve the first 15 posts (not sure if it's gone down)? To stop spammers and offensive people from posting?

    It's 5 now.

And I could post 5 sensible posts in about 1 and a half minutes

On the MOD panel they can check IP's though, so if they just search an IP they could check about that

Ohright 5. Yeah that's not that much then. IP bans are tricky though as what if you have a brother and a sister that use Habbox. The brother gets banned but the sister does nothing and she ends up being punished. (I have no real clue about IP's, only the basics so if that isn't a problem then my bad). Stopping people from registering for a few weeks is a good idea but it won't stop everyone obviously, only the 40% or so that don't know how to get around it, but the people that do or have other accounts at the moment won't really notice it. It's worth trying for a bit though I guess to see what happens, that's if it is actually possible to do in the first place.

In a sense, if you are that much of trouble causer you would find yourself on the Autoban list very quickly. It may be worth it but depends on the user.

    We have an autoban list?

I think if you have done enough to be banned, then a few weeks PROPER ban that disables there access is fair.

I mean I am known to get infractions, but I have NEVER been even temporarily banned. So if you are that much of an idiot to get banned, that's your problem

The brother and sister thing is unlikely I think. However you could scan IP address's in the MOD/Super MOD panel to see what accounts are made under that IP.

If they already have an account if there IP was on auto ban, then as soon as they log on, even with there already made account, it should ban them

I don't like this idea, unfortunately. I feel it is far too harsh and discourages members to return. A permanent ban is more than enough punishment - people lose their favoured account after all. If you do this two week thing it will encourage members to rebel and will ultimately deter people from rejoining. If members come back after a permanent ban and continue to cause trouble, they will find themselves banned soon enough anyway. If they continue to cause trouble after that they will simply be put on the autoban list. There are policies in place which prevent this from happening and I feel our current banning system is just fun (after a few tweaks I intend to implement soon).
