Default What's Going On With My Goldfish?

Well, my Black Moore keeps staying at the bottom of the tank and hardly ever rises. When it lays on the bottom it seems to lay on it's side a bit and hardly moves apart from breathing. I try to coax it into getting up but it just doesn't move... Does anyone know what is actuall wrong with my goldfish and what I can do to help it?

    Thank you in advanced.

Looked it up and its usually because the fish dont have enough water or because the water isnt filtered enough. You might wana buy a water testing kit/change the water regularly

Well, I do change a 1/3 of the water every week and change all the water once a month... Water quality could be a problem but I've known people who haven't had filters and their goldfish are fine...
I might just by a water testing kit just in case, though.

From what you say its not the water, how ever you are normally meant to leave water in a tank for a week before putting them in so it settles and neutralises or what ever its meant to do and obviously you cant do that - how ever there are some crystals you can get that put the ph of the water to 7 (i think) so its find for the fish. It could also be lack of air in the tank, you could get a small pump/filter if you dont already. It will move the water, keep it clean and you can attach an air stone to it.

OR, it could be constipated or anything along those lines.

Should be fine, just like when we have stomach aches as Alkaz said.

Or a water problem, but from what you've said I don't see how that's a problem.

On QI it said something about when they float or turn upside down, they're not dead like you usually think... I can't remember what they are doing but they're alive . I know yours aren't floating but basically I think they'll be OK if you just leave them.

Well, just to clarify anything, my little goldfish is dead. Rest in peace, Sunny...
I have brought another one though so my other two fish wont feel too upset.

Sorry mate but that post made me laugh and I don't know why, I think it was because you phrased your sentence in a funny way, one dies you buy another. sorry to hear it died though. Hopefully your new one won't.

Couldnt you take it to the vets?

Also im sure if you took your fish to a pet shop they would of suggested something, ive just finished working in a pet shop for work experience and they've had people coming in asking about there animals and whats wrong
