Slightly off topic but is there much difference between the i7 and the i5?

The only difference is no hyperthreading, and that the i5 has an "onboard" northbridge.

They pretty much perform the same at a lower cost.

down the screen and then went into some kinda diagnostic mode after saying the CPU is unsupported and to update the BIOS LOL

Not worth the extra expense then?

No. I'm thinking about the same thing too... upgrade to i5 or i7. To be honest, I'm going to wait for the 32nm 6 core processors. "upgrading" from a quad to another quad just doesn't seem worth it.

(sorry accidentally edited your post instead of pressing quote)
