Multiplayer GTA IV across platforms?

I'm guessing this is a pile of ****, but my mate reckons he heard of something about playing GTA IV online on XBL with people on the PSN.

Fiction, it's yet to be done for any game.

Shadow Run had Xbox 360 players and Games for Windows players, playing together. I'm unsure if any other games have done it, but seeing as both use Xbox Live and the platforms aren't too different, it's easier to do.

i doubt this will ever happen unless sony and microsoft bond and microsoft shares a server with psn it wont happen

That's handheld connectivity, unlocking things, etc, not actually being able to play the exact same game with the user of another platform.
