    Default The Lovely Bones

This afternoon I got around to watching The Lovely Bones and it has to be one of the best directed films I've ever seen. It was a really gripping movie, the script could do with a tiny bit of work but the acting and direction more than makes up for it.

I got a download of the copy they send to Oscar voters so it was DVD quality and I might actually go see it in the cinema when it's released. I waited quite a while for this movie but it was worth the wait. Anyone else interested in seeing it?

It should win the Oscar for best direction but we all know who that's going too .

Cameron getting Best Director would make me sick to my stomach, though wouldn't surprise me as the academy love him. Again, I'll mention Inglourious *******s, and again I will say that I'm not biased for the film because I worked on it, but that's the most beautifully shot film I have seen in years. On set Quentin was there every step of the way. You know these days most directors are 30 feet away from the action looking at monitors and "directing" via a walkie-talkie. Quentin was RIGHT behind the camera at all times. He is a testament to film-making.

The Academy are a bunch of morons. Snubbing Mickey Rourke for Sean Penn was the biggest and most blatantly spiteful snub I've ever seen.

I agree completly. Cameron is a **** (Fill in inappropriate swear word) and sure Avatar pushed the boundries of technology, but that's because it cost so bloody much and took so long to make. Inglorious was a well directed movie and should be nominated at the very least. (500) Days of Summer was another well directed movie and very well written that will be over looked by the Academy. I seriously hope they don't just give James the award (And likely 7 others lol) but it's inevitable. I still stand by my belief that the Academy lost all credibility when they gave Ben Affleck an award for writing. Just on the topic of the Oscar panel, I think the fact that one of them uploaded the DVD's onto the internet says quite a lot about them lol (But at the same time i'm greatful they did :p).

Anyway Lovely Bones is worth a watch and seriously deserves the Oscar that it won't be getting. Oh well there's always the MTV Awards  .
