Microsoft Security Essentials, it's silent, hidden, automatic and MS know Windows better than anybody else.

i've used loads in the past but atm i'm using avast! and it works perfectly

AVG Free, I would rate it 8/10 & it is protective imo

ESET Smart Security, then I tried Kaspersky, now I've gone down the free route of Comodo Firewall with Avira.
All of them were brilliant, will probably go back to ESET SS.:8

I've heard incredibly good stuff about Microsoft's Security Essentials, it's meant to rival even the paid one's. Definitely the choice if you're going down the free route from what I've read on technology websites.
I use NOD32 and have done for over 3 years without a problem

Avira AntiVir, Comodo Firewall and Spyware Terminator with Spyware Blaster. I used to use avg but the new one is becoming resource hungry and bloated
