Angry Errrrrrrrg - Another one of the Gov's bad schemes not thinking of all

I really need a decent computer. :@ Basically today, the gov has released a scheme that will provide anyone in school who's at the school age of years 3 to 9. A computer grant of £526, yes £526. :@

You can also get free internet for a year with the scheme.

Don't they think about these things properly? I mean come on school years 3 - 9? I doubt hardly anyone in the years 3 - 5 know how to use a computer properly. The computers will need to be repaired in a few days!

Just because your parent's are working they think you can afford anything. My mum only earns £10,600 a year. :@

Wish i had a little bro or sis. :@

Anyway if you have a brother or sister - school years 3 - 9 you might wanna take up on this.

    Are you eligible?
If you are a parent and think you are eligible for a Home Access grant simply call the Home Access Grant Helpline on 0333 200 1004* to get an application form.

    Section Two:
Do you receive at least one of the following?
    • Free school meals for your child***

Home Access is a government drive which will help low-income families to get access to a computer and the internet to get online at home.

If you are a low income family in receipt of certain benefits you could qualify for a grant to buy a computer and/or a minimum of one years’ internet access. The programme is aimed at those that need it most and targets families that do not have access to a computer or the internet at home.

Depending on what you need, the grant allows eligible applicants to buy one of the following packages:

    1. Full package (a computer, one year's internet access, service and support)
    2. A computer with service and support only
    3. One year's internet access only

I don't get why it cuts off immediately before the GCSE and A-Level ages :S.

It buys votes, simple as that. The country is in debt yet Labour keep on spending and quite simply it would work. The EMA issue, think of it like this; i'm 17 now, if the Conservatives win the next election this spring/summer EMA will most likely be cut - what are 17 year olds going to vote on when they turn 18 later this year/in 2011?. Taxes, deficit, war, big government or small government? - no, they'll vote based on whether their EMA was taken away.

It is the same with this.

And if you wanna buy me flowers

It wouldn't be stopped immediately though would it? So 18 year olds this year wouldn't be affected by EMA either way. Likewise with this, 18 year olds don't care about this because they're past year 9.

500+ £ is alot of money. I could build an AMD powerhouse for that. It's a shame my family earns much more than the £16,000.
