    Default Vinyl and Turntable Set

Hello there. Today I went into town (Cardiff Central) and decided (as I love Dubstep) to buy some Dubstep vinyls (3). I do not own a turntable but I have borrowed a friends' USB turntable for now, so I am able to play my vinyls. It is my birthday in April and I am looking for two things, one before hand and one for my birthday.

For now, I need a cheap turntable that can connect to my PC via USB to simply play my vinyls, as I am only borrowing my friends one for a few days. Then I need a birthday present, I am wanting a turntable set (two turntables and a mixer).

If you guys have any experience with turntables or vinyls, then please suggest, comment and share anything with me! I'm new to this vinyl scene and I hope to buy more vinyls in the future and enjoy (djing maybe) with my mates.

    Thanks! Tom.

Edit: As for budget, I have £50 for an el'cheapo and around £250 (not alot, I know ) for a "set" - Thanks!

To be honest, USB turntables are not excally great on quality (Mainly because they typically skip out on using the pre-amp and have poor sounding quality as well as wear out your records faster due to the technology they use to get away with not using a pre-amp). You're better off getting a normal turntable with a phono output and get a seperate phono pre-amp. Then you can either hook it up to a power amplifier to directly connect it to some speakers or plug it into something that accepts a RCA jack.

If your equipment already has a pre-amp built in you can skip buying the pre-amp (i.e mixer).

If you really love dubstep then why would you waste money on USB crap? Get proper kit or nothing at all.

Ok. Can you guys recommend some "full sets" then. Thanks

Also I was thinking as it isn't my brithday until April, I would buy a cheapy USB turntable but maybe an early birthday present could be arranged
