    Default Game's Ruined - A history...

    Here's a rant for you:
I'm tired of habbo changing the way habbos navigate throughout rooms with no warning or mention about when and how the process is going to change. They've made so many changes recently, each one ruining a user-created game in a different way.

Originally, and this was how it was for years, allowing many solid user games to be created, you could click another habbo's space and your habbo would walk over to it, even if it was occupied by another habbo. This was the basis of Defend Your Pod among other things, which relied on you taking a space already occupied.

So when they changed it recently, without warning or any acknowledgement on habbos part regarding the change, so that you would only walk over to a space if it was not occupied, the processes that game was built around were ruined. It also ruined Push Off, another classic game on habbo which, unlike DYP, could not be salvaged on any level as it relied solely on this property of the game.

Fair enough, I can see the logic behind the update (you wouldn't try to stand where someone else was irl, sense of realism blah blah blah). However my patience stemmed from the fact that some other games still funtioned. This was because after this moment the properties of navigation about a room stood at: you wouldn't move to an occupied space, but if you tried to move to a space that was empty but your path was blocked by another habbo, you would still move (albeit in vain) trying to get to that space. And if the blockage moved, you would have to re-click the space you wanted to go to. This was the basis of games such as user-created wobble squabble and mocha theft (keen readers will pick up on the fact that this rant deals with skill games, crap like Cossie Change and kick the ugly are unaffected by these updates, keeping the drones of habbo content).

So, content with Mocha Theft and wobble squabble working fine, it was understandably more annoying when they updated recently so that when you clicked a space on a blocked path, your habbo jammed itself in position, in an attempt to get to this space, when the blockage moves without having to re-click the space. This is again an understandable update as it makes sense to get to a space in the least clicks possible but it messed up so many games, namely the two aforementioned.

However! These games could still be played, even though the process was a bit more rough than before but it was still do-able. Still, for habbo, that would simply not suffice. Now they have chosen, again without warning or even acknowledging the change, to make it so that your habbo can move diagonally, even when two diagonally opposite squares are occupied by furni. This update has essentially ruined mocha theft and any other games which rely on a player being trapped. Not to mention many mazes which will also have been ruined with hundreds of shortcuts being opened up with such a simple update. There's absoultely no need for this update?! People have gotten by for so many years living with the old system, it was not a problem. Still someone has decided that "Oh look, how ever did people manage to play the game having to click a space more than once to get to it, and not being able to go through a diagonal gap?!". It's crap to say the least.

What really ***** me off is that the people making these huge changes to the game don't have the nerve to even announce it. They'll announce the flashy unneccessary updates that wow people visually as the game evolves but they keep the changes that actually matter, that destroy years of work in seconds, to themselves because they don't think about the consequences. They have the nerve however, to say that "Oh yeah look at this new friend request popup bubble! It'll make your gameplay so much better!" but are ignorant to the fact that other changes are ******* up the game the way old users are used to it.

They should at least put in an option to determine how habbos navigate throughout the room, although people probably wouldn't understand the difference (I base this on the fact that the so called "Advanced" section of room properties deals with deleting a room. Apparently that's advanced...?). Then again you look at how much they've messed up rooms with that "walk through everyone" update that has done nothing to help maze blockers (you can't walk through someone on a chair) and you think that creating such an option would only overload their minds. Literally the only reason I play habbo is for user created games and they have monumentally ****** them up.

    LMAO good thread, +rep!

Hang on a second though - you can walk diagonally between furni? :S Is this the case with ANY furni (e.g. two Mode corners back to back)?? The original process of walking was perfectly fine before they tried to alter it. I have a casino which is designed so that when you enter, you have to blindly climb up some Petals. Because of whatever they did during a so-called update, it takes multiple clicks to reach the top and being a covered area it's even harder. So if I ever open the casino, it will no doubt see major backlogs of noobs not being able to work it out which will just destroy the room as nobody would want to ever come back.

To be honest, almost every "update" Habbo has ever introduced has always resulted in big steps P) backwards for the sake of one or two slight (unnecessary) enhancements to the gaming experience. If I ever had the money and was bored for something to do, I would actually consider approaching Sulake to propose some sort of agreement which would allow me to resurrect the Habbo of old :L

Ah and now Mario Kart games within habbo have been ruined, as of today. Quickseating through a row of seats is now impossible. When you click to move to the next chair without sitting down, your habbo moves in the opposite direction. The opposite direction. The OPPOSITE direction. :/

Couldn't agree more actually. Mocha Thefts and DYP's are what a lot of people constantly did. The demise of them was all because of a silly little "update" which Habbo thought was for the better. Shows how much they interact with the players if they couldn't see that coming..

Habbo seems to be messing lots of things up lately. BB / SS, fansites, credits vs. HCs.. what's next?

It does. However, with the way habbo now works if I know for a fact that I entered the room where the game is held before everyone else in the game, if I click a chair at the exact same time in a one-space situation, I'd get priority. People tend to refer to this advantage as 'speed' within the game.
There was always an element of this in every room but it was random before, now you can predict how it will turn out, technically giving everyone an advantage over at least someone, so long as one person entered the room after them.

I agree, another thing I dislike is when 2 people go to the seat at the same time, and one loaded the room quicker you no longer move around the seat randomly. Yet habbo not have made it so that if they stand up in a reasonable amount of time you steal the seat, this is ridiculous in some games like defend your pod as you can't actually go chasing anymore in some aspects.

Design a Room games now also don't work thanks to the removal of "allow everyone to have rights" feature.
