    Default english lit&lang help. +rep

Basically my english teacher wasn't in today, so set us some work.
I've got to write a discussion on this question:

Comepare the two texts, showing how they reflect differences and similarities between talk in life and talk in literature, including the relationship between context and purpose, and the ways in which speakers' attitudes and values are conveyed.

I'm alright with the question... It's just the 'discussion' part. I have no idea what a discussion is.. apparently we did it last term, but i literally have no idea what to do.

So yeah, what is a discussion and how do I write it on that question?

I'll give you a hint: in a discussion people tend to have differing views.

Just use words like "conversely" and then say the total opposite of what you've just written, as long as it makes sense it'll look good

Take both sides of it. A bit like for and against.
