Photoshop Help Req.

Hey I need help. So I have this image:

And I need to turn the contour lines into paths so that I can export them to Illustrator and then to Sketchup. Does anyone know how to make paths of them quickly? Because when I select them and do "Make Path from Selection" it makes an outline :/ I just want a single path right through the middle of the lines. Is this possible without tracing them?

I believe that Illustrator CS4 has an auto trace function.
