Default nVidia GTX 470 and 480!

Nvidia have launched their new line of DX11 graphic cards. Codenamed Fermi, the first cards to be released are the 448-processor core GTX 470 and the 480-processor core GTX 480. That's right, 480 shader processors, twice of the GTX 285!! Equipped with DDR5 RAM & DX11 support, these new cards pack some serious performance along with quite a hefty pricetag.

The GTX 470 main competition is AMD's HD5850. While the two are fairly close in performance, the GTX 470 will normally outperform. With a price tag of $349, it's a bit more expensive than the HD5850 which came to the market at $269 but has since been selling closer to $310. Same goes with the GTX 480 & HD5870. Seems like Nvidia, even though 6-months late, have manufactured quite a stunning card and with that, take back the crown of building the world's fastest single GPU. It seems as if Nvidia might come out with a slighly faster version of the GTX 480 down the road (maybe called GTX 485?) that might feature 512 shader processors.

Higher price tags, higher power consumption & higher temperatures might keep some games away from upgrading to the GTX400 series. Seems like AMD still wins for having more efficient, cooler running, and more affordable graphic cards.

Completely useless cards that have legal, temperature & sound problems.

Agreed with above and very disappointing result for a 6 month delay. These should walk all over the ATI 5 series however they are barely faster.

Just wait till they release a driver that fries the card. Oh wait, they already did that.
