i would say avoid LG phones like the plague unless they have the S Class Operating system, or a GOOD OS, LG phones tend to be proprietary. Samsung Tocco's I'm not to keen on, the phone is far too slow, and they now have an Ultra edition which iron out SOME of those problems. The Samsung Armani once again is avoidable. The only one I can recommend, which not even that i like, is the Sony Ericsson as it's the best of the lot and the OS, I believe, is Symbian.

Personally I'm not a fan of any of those. The obvious choice, to me, is an iPhone but I understand not everyone can afford one. I would stick to Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones if I were you, Nokias in particular. The new N97 is a brilliant phone, and even the older phones such as the N95 I had a few years ago was fantastic, best camera I've ever seen on a mobile.
