    Default Government & Politics AS

well basically this year i attempted with maths AS and dropped out as i didnt have time for such a full on course and too hard and stuff

so i was like hmm what to do next year
and i look at the list ages ago and was like ;l theres nothing else i like ;l

i thought photography but by the sounds of things they dont rly do much LOL and ill probs have more specialism in it in my artcourse next year anyway

and then i started thinking bout politics as obv i hv a big interest in it, blaming my brother there.

and i thought it wasnt on the list but i just checked and it is

so im thinking of doing it, i think itll be less time than maths was and i already know a lot about it and i actually have an interest in it

i wouldbe doing it more for my OWN interest rather than yano grades and stuff

so i was wondering has anyone done it? and what have you studied or what did you study in it?

i have no idea what exam board it's with sadly :{ but yehh any like advice would be useful!

Well, In terms of British Government. You learn about the three main paths of the system. Legislative, Executive and Judicial. Then you go on to learn about Political parties. The monarch, all that good stuff. Its really interesting if your into that stuff. Next year we're studying the American system.

I did it and it was really interesting! In AS you essentially study UK politics as a whole so the governing system, political parties, pressure groups and the like. I was originally just going to do the AS of it but I've ended up doing the A2 as well. I did Maths A Level too and I personally found Politics a lot more fulfilling and enjoyable.

    Hope that helps

I didn't during A2. It all depends what path your future education institution chooses.

Obviously because politics is a pretty fluid thing the actual content of the course is going to change year to year, but going by what others have said here it seems like it's the same basic outline as when I did it. AS year was really good stuff, if you have a decent tutor for it you can have some great discussions and debates so for a personal interest course it's definitely got a lot going for it if that's what you're into.

I dont know, the board that my school uses have it on their specification though. AS is about Northern Ireland's political parties, devolution plus all the British stuff I said.
