Default BNP Candidate Assaults Asian Man whilst campaigning

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8663681.stm?ls

BNP candidate and Asian men clash

A fight broke out between a British National Party parliamentary candidate and some Asian men as party members were out campaigning in east London.
The Asian men earlier swore at leader Nick Griffin and threw fruit at him and he was taken away from the scene.
The candidate for Romford, Bob Bailey, continued to campaign in Ripple Road when one of the men swore and spat at him prompting Mr Bailey to punch him.
Police were called after 1500 BST to the fight between the two groups.
    'Campaign of hatred'
At the time Metropolitan Police said they were called to the incident but no-one had been arrested at the scene.
Later however, police said an 18-year-old man attended Barking police station and alleged common assault against another man.
The Barking Community Safety Unit is to look into the matter.
When asked about the fight Mr Griffin told BBC London the fight was the result of a "campaign of hatred and dehumanisation against any group of people, in this case us".
He said: "I think people have to realise that the people have spoken, this is a democratic vote and everyone has to go along with that, whether its us, our opponents or people on the streets, and if there are a few crazies or thugs on the streets I'm sure the police will deal with them quite quickly.
"The more people in the media talk this up as an issue, the more silly kids on the streets will be inclined to take the law into their hands."
And they said Gordon calling someone a bigot was bad...

Would you tolerate people doing this to you on the street Oli?

..and going by Labours record on punch-ups, remember this?

Yes that is John Prescott you see, the Labour Deputy Prime Minister at the time punching somebody because they threw an egg at him.

In all fairness if someone spat on me I'd lash out regardless if they were coloured or not. The guy was obviously looking for trouble and he got it... What can I say...

Any act of violence is wrong, the youths were intimidating the politican but the politician should have walked away, the police were already on their way.

This thread is about the BNP, Dan, not Labour and it's worth noting that John Prescott is no longer Deputy Prime Minister.

The politician most likely walked away but judging from the report, he was pestered and eventually spat on so he snapped as many would do so. John Prescott may not be Deputy Prime Minister anymore, but dont go slinging the poo around when the Labour Party have as just as bad record in that department - and especially from somebody as high up as John Prescott who incidently has been campaigning for you in this election also so it is not as though he has gone from the scene. Infact if i'm not mistaken hes still a Labour MP.

When did he say labour were perfect? why the hell do you have to turn every thread into ANTI-WHATEVERPARTYIHATE thread? This is about the BNP and the fact they got into a fight.

Tbh, even if i was spat on, n all of that, the night before an election, the last thing id do is lose my temper and get in a fight. Shows the sense that they have..

He's only human, stop condemning the poor man. No one being provoked and spat on is going to remain calm.

I did not say that he has said Labour are perfect and I challenge you to find me a quote where I say that - all I simply said was that you cannot go around slamming the British National Party for something like this which was provoked when your own Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, did the same in a less provoking situation. More to the point, just because they are the BNP doesnt mean you have to jump on the bandwagon condemning everything they do;- I mean for instance many on here would call the BNP rascist for having a whites-only policy yet the Labour Party advocates wanting all-black candidate shortlists.

In conclusion I agree with what he did because anybody would do it and I hope they hurt when they wake up in the morning.

Yes, im totally jumping on the bandwagon. If you actually read what i put, you'd see my reasoning for condeming him had nothing to do with BNP, merely that this thread is about the BNP so why go off on some random direction to labour. All parties have their bad times, with MPs doing stupid things, but i am simply saying this is super-stupid as its right before the elections (not that i know when the labour thing happened), but still.
