Why does racism exist?

Some people simply cannot cope with the fact that others are different.

Do you not think it's more than that? Still exists from slavery and their general supposed inferiority pre 1950s when racism was pretty global and a much bigger problem?

while ever humans roam the earth, racism is going to exist - it's as simple as that

it could be something to do with our earlier ancestry, for example protecting our land & territory

Tribal mentality is instinctive. Same reason you have homophobia, sexism, ageism etc. People do not like what is different and have a 'them and us' perspective.

Well, back in history when people in this country thought this country was all the world consisted of, so when other people did appear and they were of different ethnicity, they simply didn't like the difference, which is why these people were treated inferior in my opinion

Mhm, I just think others have been conditioned to believe that black people are inferior and it has just spread. The fact people know racism is acceptable and exists in other places makes racism is a problem in more liberal countries.

I was thinking about this long and hard. One idea I came up with sounds quite credible.

When you are furious at another person, you like to shout and swear at them and call them the worst names possible, or try to insult them in some way, and thus make them feel bad. A white person to a white person is not going to say "you stupid white scum" because they are both white, so the guy would be insulting himself. Instead they'd most likely call them an *REMOVED* idiot and a word begnning with w, rhymes with banker. Now, a white person to a black person (or any other two different races) would say "ah you stupid ****** *******" or something like that, to try and be insulting and make them feel like they're scum. People try and pick faults with others, for example if somebody is disabled they would use that against them, or if they were mentally ******ed. The person being racist may not believe that other races are inferior to their own, they may simply be trying to pick a fault and find none, so they use something that's different to themselves to insult the person with.

I am not making up excuses for racism, it's just a thought I had whilst in the shower.

I'm not a racist person but someone was explaining to me that there are thousands of people in England that don't have a job because of people from other countries having them. I think black and white people should live in the same country and stuff but I understand where they're coming from. Then I watched a film called This Is England and that guy got it off that. ;lll

I think we should all live in a world where don't care about race.
Impossible, but yeah.
