Is that that German supermarket's own version of the Audi A3?

What about a Focus 1.8 TDCi? 1.8 diesel outputs 115bhp, my dad had an '04 one few years back and it was rapid, true wolf in sheep's clothing.
Couple that with a sweet ride, crisp handling, Ford reliability and a car in such a plentiful supply that you could probably find spare parts lying about in the street, and you've got a winner.

If you're spending £5-10K on a car I'd definately get something reliable, don't get something pathetic like a new corsa.. buy a quality used car. I'd say get something German, and as biased as that sounds coming from me.. they are great cars. I've owned 3 VW's, and they've all never missed a beat, the only problems I've had are my own fault by having them sitting about an inch of the floor

I'm guessing you'd be after a hatchback, so I'd say Audi A3, Mk5 Golf, Skoda Fabia VRS, Seat Ibiza.. they're all in the VAG category and all german built. You can get them in (petro-l) 1.4 TFSI (turbo) 120/140/170bhp, 2.0 TFSI (turbo) 200bhp, (diesel-) 1.9TDI 115/130/150bhp 2.0TDI 140/170bhp. There's a few more but these are generally the best. Just have a scout about local car dealerships, autotrader, etc.

i'm the star in the reasonably priced car!

Buy a Mazda 2! , just bought a new one myself for £10200 . Absolutely smashing little cars with alot of punch. They may be 1.3 but insurance isnt that expensive and they are reliable so its a win win situation.

Btw if your interested in finance, Mazda are currently offering 2/3yr interest free on all mazda 2's providing you put down a 50% deposit /

I like Honda's, so an Accord or a Civic would suit me fine. I have 3.0 Accord now making 240hp. I'm looking at an Acura TSX now with a 2.4 4-cylinder but it only makes 201hp (downgrade).
I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if you like me or you don't. If you like me, cool. If you don't, meh.
