[Team] World Cup: To be continued... - Ends 12th June

For this competition, we're testing your creative writing skills! You have to work in a team to finish off the story. End it however you like. A win or a lose, you decide. The best ending wins!

England had made it into the final. They were playing against New Zealand. How they had ever got into the World Cup final confused a lot of the England players and fans alike but that didn't matter. They had beat far better teams to get here; one more wouldn't hurt. They had this one in the bag, surely?

New Zealand were usually a rubbish team, thought Fabio Capello. However, with the morale boost from being in the final, they were playing like winners... and that didn't fit well with England, who were falling apart at the seams. There was a minute left. It was a tie and if it went to penalties, England's track record would probably mean it'd be a plane journey with no victory. That couldn't happen... come on, lads.

Rooney had the ball, he was heading for goal. He prayed to the heavens, aimed for the goal and kicked with all his might...

One entry per team; it has to be a team effort! However, those who are not playing in the tournament can still enter and trade the 'goals' for reputation points. Good luck!

Thenonames entry.

Unfortunately he missed. He looked up at the goals and saw the ball next to them - he placed his face into his hands. As it bounced off the bar, Crouch came running in to shoot the ball. Rooney and himself looked up to see the atomosphere, the crowd were cheering and screaming at the amazing goal scored. Crouch put his shirt over his head and sprinted off with his arms in the air. Rooney followed and jumped on him, showing everyone their happiness for scoring a goal.

Now halfway through the game, New Zealand's very own Chris Killen ran in with the ball, looking closely at the defenders around him. He manouvered himself around them and took a shot. Seeing the ball going in, New Zealand's supporters jumped up, cheering for their goal as England's shook it off and got ready for the next centre.

It was getting towards the end of the game, and the score was still 1-1. The referee's whistle blew, and the crowd got pumped for penalties. Rooney got ready to take the first one. Shaking his legs off, he looked up at the sky, hoping he would score a perfect goal. He walked back, taking in a deep breath and running towards the ball. He aimed... then shot! Scoring the first penalty, England are in the league! New Zealand took their shot, their supporters kept their fingers crossed, took a shot and... they missed! England were still in the league with one.

England were next up to take their second penalty, but how would it end this time? Crouch moved back, stretched, then ran up to the ball - kicking it with all his strength. He looked up, and the goalkeeper had saved it! Unlucky for us, New Zealand took their second shot and scored! With one-a-side we got ready for our third, Lampard stepped forward to do the shot. He stared into the crowd, then ran forward slamming his foot on the ball. It went flying across the air into the back of the net! The crowd went wild as the rest of the team dived on him with excitment. New Zealand's third one now, they aimed and scored. As they only had two more shots left, unfortunately each team failed to score.

Now onto sudden death, it's New Zealand's last chance to score. A few seconds pass and the crowd "aww"s as they miss! It's now Englands final shot to win. Rooney stepped forward to take the shot. The supports screamed his name whilst he got ready for his moment. The crowd went silent. He breathed deeply, stepping forward for his run up. He kicked the ball and fell to the floor.

The crowd roared with excitement, supporters nearly in tears because we'd beaten New Zealand. Rooney ran around the pitch with joy as the team followed him. England had done it, they had won!

He's almost reached the goal,he thought to himself come on roon's you can do it (what a werido) he runs. Suddenly,with a flicker a flash, a bibbid bobbid BOO, Wayne Rooney has turned into a , a HUGE GREEN SHREK he then is not paying attention because he is too shocked at his transformation and runs into the crossbar. Teaches him not to be transfixed in transformations wouldn't have happen if he was looking,stupid man! Anyway he gets stretchered off and the England manager is very and utterly confused. Then a couple of seconds later something even more weirder happend, A mass of jigglepuffs pop out of the sky. And came and ate peter crouch. Thats the last off him. Now the England manager is really reallllyyyy confused and runs away screaming like a girl WHAT A WUSS. Out Of the blue all your could here was the doctor who theme tune ooo wa oooo oo wa oo, the tardis lands on the ground with a shudder Like what the heck is happening today. The new-zeland side are just utterly confused and half of the fans have ran away in fear. Anyway, The doctor comes on the pitch and shouts COME ON TIMELORDS like x10 times (werido). He then runs to the ball and scores the winning goal. TIMES UP. ENGLAND HAVE WONNN. After an extremley bizzare match they had won. "well" says wayne rooney i don't think i will be doing that again in a hurry!

It hit the crossbar, the whole of the English people in the stadium screamed with horror, they needed this goal so much, was there much else they could? They all thought it was over. You could see the shock and disappointment in all of the teams eyes, their faces dropped. But not only England was it with a change of heart, new Zealand suddenly became 100% happier, like they had already won.

With just 50 seconds left at this time, England didn’t give up, they was picking up the pace, and a so was the atmosphere in the stadium. People started too cheer on England and getting their spirits up and England was getting their ego boost. The stadium was electric by 40 seconds to go, all you saw was the colours of the English flag waving high, all we needed was this last goal and we could win it, the world cup. Image winning the world cup, the feeling of doing your WHOLE COUNTRY proud, going home too the millions of over the moon fans, fans wearing YOUR NAME on their football kids, you was going too be an idol when you got home, that’s if they win.

All of the sudden, Gerrard sprinted down the pitch, nobody even noticed him fly up the pitch, there was so much hope by this time. With Lampard and Heskey right behind him he had backups also. We knew Gerrard could do it, he was on of the best and we was all so overjoyed. The clock was ticking down and at only 35 seconds left, ONLY 35 SECONDS. Could he do it? He haven’t won this trophy since 1966, what an achievement to win the world cup, the WORLD cup.

He was right by the goal by this time, you could see the shock in Glen Moss’ eyes, it all depended on him now. The pressure was all on him, because if new Zealand won this, it would be even more of an achievement, they wasn’t known for being a good team, and they would of proven everybody wrong. All of the sudden Gerrard was ready too shoot, he smiled for the crowd with a quick glance and hit with the most precision possible, the concentration on he’s face was the most it had ever been before.

The ball flew over Moss’ head, he sighed and knew it was over. IT FLEW INTO THE GOAL! The crowd screamed with amazement. ENGLAND HAD WON THE WORLD CUP. Gerrard done an amazing victory goal cheer, he did a double back-flip before the whole squad tackling him too the ground. Fabio Capello gave he’s usual look, which wasn’t much, but I guess he was happy on the inside! I mean imagine having the honour of leading England. Gerrard must of felt like the happiest man on the earth at the moment, when he gets home he will be the hero of England, infact the whole team will be the hero’s of England at this moment.

But he missed, it was now New Zealands turn to go for Goal.
Ryan Nelson ran up the field, stepping Englands players, he went to kick for the goal and...

WOOT! He got it in, Nelson wins the World Cup Final for New Zealand (because New Zealand Owns)

and from the moement his foot touched the ball he knew this game would be englands, His Nike Trainers smacked the ball and it shot off towards the goal at an alarming speed. the crowd got to their feet. there were cheers and crie from england fans. the supportrers at home were shouing at their " new currys 42" HD T.V only £499" Getting ready to strangle rooney if he missed.

The ball got closer and closer and then.......... IT HITS THE CROSS BAR! The crowed started to cry, the young supporters couldnt watch anymore, now the people at home were going to stragnle rooney. The failure himself dropped to his knees and prayed " why god please just this one goal". During this time everybody failed to realise the ball was still in the air!

then out of no-where as if by magic a sudden gust of almighty wind battered the staidum forcing the ball to apear to be falling back to the goal, One member after another saw it flying backwards and hope was refilled

closer and closer and closer, the england supporters were quiete, the new-zeland goal keeper was now-where to be seen as now it was only a few yards away. thats when it hit the ground, it rolled and rolled till it got to that preciouse little white line and! It STOPPED! he england fans couldnt believe it.

Ready to head out of the stadium, David Becham jumped over the wall Cruches in tow and nudged the ball in! THE CROWED WENT WILD!!! England had won! The Team had their little hugging and kissing moment ( no match would be the same withought it)

Now as fabio Capello Jumped for joy and now that he had got the world cup over he and the rest of the world knew what he had to do now and that was

Rooney had the ball, he was heading for goal. He prayed to the heavens, aimed for the goal and kicked with all his might... and.. what the heck was that?

A gasp came from the crowd as Rooney stopped in his tracks, bent down and wondered what the small, yellow object was on the floor infront of the ball.

Millions of viewers watched at home and in the stadiums as Rooney pondered over this. Upon closer inspection, this yellow object was a childs toy, a rubber duck in fact with a santa hat on. Fabio came running onto the petal patch field to see what the commotion was with Rooney. He showed him the duck and sighed. Capello instantly knew what was going on.. "Thata bloody Fozzie trying to cheat us out of the world cup, just because he's merged hotels and we haven't!" he said in his strong Italian accent.

Of course, Fozzie the ex-AU hotel manager was out of a job due to the merge, thankfully Fabio was still going strong with England.

The crowd weren't happy at all. The hab-hop stopped and the more defensive Pogo Mogo started among the crowd, imitating the haka. The New Zealand squad were unaware of this incident and Fozzie was behind all this.

Looking around the petal patch, Rooney didn't quite recall the same setting as he did at the start of the game. A small man in a suit was stood with a fluet player, both drinking from a cola machine and people were queuing up for the pistachio ice cream machine on a form of roller device. Banners for McDonalds and Coca-Cola had been replaced by "COMPS FTW" and "EVENTZ SUCK" which was most upsetting to the majority of fans there.

It was all getting too much when the referee witnessing all this revealed himself as being lost. "Ah, I don't care" thought Rooney and got in place ready to kick the ball, a second time. The chants of both England and New Zealand started up again and Rooney poised himself. Even though his run was no faster than his walk, he prepared.

He "ran" up to the ball.. let his foot swing out and kicked it. The ball flew across the air and landed right in the back of the net. Cries of excitement came from the crowd in the thrones and Rooney was most pleased. He changed into a paler shirt to imitate taking it off and smiled with his team mates.

England had done it - they'd actually won the World Cup.. or had they?

He turned to the New Zealand Goal-keeper..
"p2s, kick or rev?" said the referee.

… and ‘thump’ went the ball as he hit the sweet spot. The ball went flying towards the goal; it all seemed like slow motion for all the fans as they watched in awe, all on the edge of their seats nearly dropping off them. They cheered, they whistled, they made as much noise as they possibly could. Rooney kept tracing the ball with his eyes as it carved smoothly through the air until he suddenly realised… it had curved just enough to avoid the goalie’s, what seemed to be, ginormous hands. It had hit the post and rebounded in!

The whistle blew and Rooney put his shirt over his head and threw his hands up in the air as high as he could, overcome with excitement while the rest of the England team sprinted over to him. Meanwhile, all the sixty-thousand fans jumped up from their seats, screaming and tearing; the losing streak was over at last!

Ricki Herbert looked down upon the field, crushed with defeat. He had many hopes and had prayed to God for a win this World Cup. As Fabio Capello came over to shake his hand, you could see Ricki just was not stable… just not right. Just as Fabio had turned around, he started bursting into tears. He turned back and smirked while he ran down to congratulate his team.

Now can England defend their title in four years?

The ball flew startlingly and although the speed of the soaring ball was like the speed of light, it pierced its way
through the sky and at that particular moment, instantaneously, everything seemed to freeze. The ball was only just flying,
as if it had some sort of difficulty keeping up in the air.

The active crowd who were all bellowing & unhinged, waiting, praying for their teams, gritting their teeth, suddenly turned into the
complete opposite & in a split second, the atmosphere had changed. The crowd did not seem interested anymore, nor did the football
players and managers. Everyone stood still with a cold, glum look about them. This created a tense & uncomfortable situation & everyone
seemed to be focusing on the exits.

Fortuitously, there was a heavy and deafening sound that turned everyone attention to the very end of the pitch only to see that
there was a murky overcast of smoke & a colossal fire. It didn't take long for everyone to realise that there had just been an explosion.
