Default How protective were/are your parents?

When you were younger what were your parents like with films and TV shows, did they always go off the age ratings or did they make their own mind up about whether or not you could watch them. Also if something sexual/rude was happening would they react by turning it off for a second or just ignore it and hope it wouldn't last for long? I personally remember being able to watch any films no matter what the rating was as long there wasn't loads of sex or strong language in it. I remember watching loads of action films that had high age ratings mainly due to all the violence so my parents weren't really too fussed about that stuff.

My parents were extremely liberal. I watched Hellraiser at four years old. Children are not influenced by what they see in films to do wrong. The only time they do so is if they are already mentally disturbed, so they shouldn't be watching in the first place. A sane human being has no issues with seeing such material. Sure. the mainstream media likes to see otherwise, like blaming a moment in a scene in Reservoir Dogs which isn't actually shown on the killers of Jamie Bulger - yes, of course, I'm sure that film also made him a pedophile years later...

not at all, and i don't see why they should be - it's only a film & if it upset you the first time you know not to watch that genre again

I was allowed to watch what ever I liked. To be honest though, I wasn't really interested in 18 rated films until I was a teenager. I was more exploited with Disneys innuendos

My parents only used to watch films late at night, so was my bed time anyways.
