Default Log Off or Shut Down?

Recently, my computer is facing problems like blank screen or "Blue Screen Of Death" whenever i wanted to use it (after i shutting it down few hours ago). And now i got fear of shutting down my computer, and one of my friend suggested me to log off the computer and leave it unattended if i'm not using it.

Should i listen to him and just log off my computer? And by doing that, does the energy still runs like how it was when I'm using it?

For about a year I went through a phase of never turning my laptop off, I'd just shut the lid which put it into standby or sleep. Never saw any side effects so it will probably be fine. Maybe you could compare it to a TV? I don't know about you but we never turn our TV off by the plug, just press the button on the front and it goes into standby.

It'll be fine just to let it sleep.

Could have just been a one off error from a power cut or such, try restarting it at-least once and if it still happens then just put it on sleep for the time being...

Does putting it on sleep costs a lot for the bill?

No. Your computer uses barely any power in sleep mode.

Sounds like theres a problem however with your computer.

I'd try to find out what it is - it could be a simple issue but if its something worse ignoring it may simply cause it to grow and grow.
