    Default BMP images display funny

    Hello,

The majority of BMP files are being displayed like this in Chrome for me.

Anyone know how to solve this?

    Jack.

Best suggestion I can give: use PNG instead of BMP, BMP is a dead format.

Other than that I have no idea, could be a faulty version, try updating.

Why dont you use Windows picture and fax viewer instead? :S
Only images i need to open in browser are animated gifs because they wont load on wpfv..
Also as suggested above, bmp quality is quite bad, use png or high quality jpg/jpeg

I didn't say that! I said it's a dead format (It's also lossless in most cases).

Is it a BMP of an internet explorer window or is Chrome doing it's special magic where it uses an Internet Explorer window to fix stuff?

Hmm, tbh I can't think of what the problem could be, it's not like a single colour has been drained or something :S. I assume that the person who sent it is running a custom task bar? Perhaps BMP just can't show minor tonal changes :/ Perhaps you're not showing the image as full and chrome has rubbish image reduction for bitmaps?

On a side note, this guy here has a similar problem:
