    Default Best Anti-virus? +REP

I'v had AVG for about 2 years now and my laptops been compromised twice with it running.

Now I have a trojan which has pretty much infected all my files, what does AVG do? Puts all my files in the vault and doesn't even get rid of the malware. So it's even let the trojan get to AVG files too.

So yeah, recommendations please + rep

These seem to be the good Anti-Viruses around these days:

    Microsoft Security Essentials
    ESET NOD32/Smart Security
    Kaspersky Internet Security/Anti-Virus

Although you have listed two very good applications that would give him additional protection/helpful in terms of cleaning up, they would not give full protection or any protection from well known viruses.

Oh no, I didn't mean he shouldn't download them. I just didn't want him to think removing AVG and just having the two applications you have listed, then he will be safe. Which wouldn't be the case as they do not protect the end user from viruses like the applications I have listed.

Anyone who loves Apple products that much will say the same, go mac blah blah. Just don't Mr, it isn't the case and most of the time it's due to the end-user.

    Over and out!

Now that you just got served, I'll get right back to the point. If you're registered to Barclays Online Banking you get Kapersky free for a year. I'd check your bank to see if any of them have deals like this, they do it so you feel more secure using online banking innit.

Only because so little people use Mac's. If you could infect 20 million people, or 1 million who use macs.. I know who I would target..

I use AVG 2011, and personally find it exceptional - but you seem to have had problems. I often here Kapersky is very good.

I've got McAfee and I've never had problems with it and it updates everyday, so there's less chance of getting Trojans / virus's.
