Intel/AMD Comparisons?

So I have never really got the hang of the Intel/AMD thing.

Basically can people give me a hand on what the equivalent AMD processor is to:

Intel i5 (nothing specific - please post specific if easier..)
Intel i3 (same as above)
Intel i7 (same as above)
Core2Quad
Core2Duo

There isn't really an equivalent.

I suppose you could probably say the Phenoms (X2, X4) are most equivalent (performance wise) to C2D and C2Q respectively

Well people always say that AMD and Intel are both good now, but not many can decide what is BEST? Thanks for the bottom bit
