cheapest pc build?

hey,

i'm either looking for a pre-built or a build yourself machine for my brother as recently theirs stopped working. all it needs to do is be able to browse the internet. they have a monitor, mouse, keyboard etc so all they need is a base unit.

what's the cheapest possible machine for doing something basic like this?

You can probably pick something up for free tbh if you ask around some local businesses for old broken computers that you could fix.

I agree with tm in that you could likely find someone kind enough to donate a computer or sell one at low cost. Check out kijiji.

Freecycle. I recently picked up several systems off there. Including:

Dell Dimension 8100 (now my grans)
P3 500MHz (in bits)
Socket 754 Sempron (dead)
