See if someones pretty heavy and they're trying to lose weight, yet doing muscle gain exercise, would they put on weight because of the muscle gain or still lose weight?.

I know what you mean man and answer is

The muscle gained (if any) on a caloric deficit will/should be nowhere near the ammount of fat lost

On a cut you should really go for maintaning lbm rather than gaining it
how much mass you maintain will depend on your diet and how big the defecit is

when i cut from 220 last year down to 190ish now i didnt feel i lost much mass but i still lifted heavy and kept a balanced diet including fats which i reckon is the key to maintaining

    muscle weighs more than fat..

but usually they do more than just lift weights, they run, swim or cycle to lose the fat. but still do the exercises to gain the muscle.... although muscle takes a lot longer to form than fat.... so you'll probably see a slight decrease in weight.

you might want to look up the terms ectomorph, endomorph and mesomorph
