I've recently been unbanned from a ban which was supposed to be a 12 year ban, but was actually just 2 years, the problem is I don't know the password when I link the character to my email address. Is it possible to reset the password to that particular unlinked account?

Yes, If you know the email it is to you can send a password reset and change the password that way.
