    Default Building up self confidence

Since becoming 18 and in college now i've started to feel a little bit left out and found a reason because i need to build up my confidence meaning that a could get myself interacting more with my friends and the public but however that all seems to fail then goes all downhill! I know i may sound hard on myself here but however i've been working and trying and trying and trying on everyone when talking to them on that i could get hold of and none of them worked of what I need to do while talking to the public and what not i don't know what to do because whether its about my shyness or something else that i dont even know about, plus on conversations via. MSN they seem to get out of control and don't work out as planned when talking to my college friends!

I've never had confidence since i was little till this size which i am now, had plenty of accidents of when i was ran over by a car over 5 years ago which could've knocked myself out and affected my confidence a little when this incident happened then, many times also i can do alot of things (eg. horse riding, running etc.) but although when someones watching me it becomes stressful and i have no enthusiasm towards anything at all but i hope i could change this somehow, someway?!

You have to find certain aspects about yourself that you think is the cause for this, then focus on sorting them out to a state which you are happy about. Didn't you only recently come out gay? Maybe this has decreased your confidence even further.

I remember I used to be sooooo shy and lacked confidence. But I know this may sound stupid, but having my first kiss made me loads more confident and I began talking more and stuff.
Like Apple said if you recently came out as gay then maybe that is it.
Just give it time, you never know what may happen.

(thats not meant to be offensive in anyway)

anyway I think just slowly go out more then you get more used to it etc and I think it will eventually work. Getting a job may help too, especially one which involves public activity ie a cashier.

I guess confidence comes with time too. When you get older you get more responsibilities and you have to do more for yourself. This is where you lose a lot of shyness because you have to do things, and talk to people to get things done. (IE. getting a job, setting up/managing bank accounts, talking to students, lecturers) in further education?

I still have no confidence so you're not alone. My self esteem is low too.

But don't worry I'm sure a lot of people are shy on this forum! I know I am.

I just hang around with loud people and it kind of helps with the shyness - but the effect of that is short term for me anyway
As for confidence - I agree with the above.
You're not alone, I'm really similar to you
