If you genuinely want to stop you'll do whatever it takes. Therefore if you wanted to you would chew gum or whatever and be able to get over cravings.

What I dont get is why people do it in the first place.

I'm not claiming to be an expert on this since i don't smoke. But in my school the No.1 reason people started was because of their freinds.

There were 80 people in my year.

In our first year( when everybody was 12/13) only a few people smoked. Second year over fifteen smoked. Third year about 30 in the year smoked and in fourth year at least half the year if not more smoked.

I've often debate with my freinds who do smoke about why they started. Their answers aren't very good, they say they "just did" start smoking. However they got all their first **** from their freinds.
Bonjour, la noirceur, mon vieil ami
    Je suis venu te reparler
    Car une vision piétinante doucement
A laissé ses graines lorsque je dormais
    Et la vision
Qui était plantée dans mon cerveau
    Demeure toujours
    Parmi le son du silence
