Pre-owned consoles

I am thinking of getting a pre-owned console from GAME and was wondering what anybody's experiences were with pre-owned consoles?

dont get a xbox 360 preowned the chances that it'll get rrod are quite high.

well its guaranteed to vary, it may have been repaired and more prone to failure.

I've never had problems with consoles but I know at Gamestation they check them but only for about 15 minutes.

Does anybody know of any retailers which are still saying older model but brand new consoles? I know Comet does.

Hum, not too sure. It depends on how old the console is. I think you get a years guarantee with it.. but like most things, they break just after.

Don't GAME offer a guarantee on a purchase such as this, in case of breakdowns etc?

Yeah, Game offer a year of 'GameCare' which covers pretty much everything including accidents like dropping it or spilling whatnot on it.

You get a years guarantee as standard with all pre-owned consoles from GAME/Gamestation. You can then choose whether or not to get an extra care package (the cost of which depends on the price of the console) which covers accidental damage and controllers.

All consoles are checked when they come in and then tend to get checked again, if you do get sold one which doesn't work right - just take it back and they'll replace it or you can get your money back. At the end of the day, a console is a console. It doesn't really matter if someone has had it before.

I personally pre-fer buying second hand 360s, i've never had a problem and usually they have good motherboards, no first generations.
I got one from CEX for about £60 a few month ago.
If your extremely lucky, you might even get an exploitable if they haven't been online.
