I can't see ChromeOS taking off, who wants to have to rely on the cloud (especially nowadays where there is limited 3G connectivity)? :S

But it doesn't rely on the cloud, soon you will get fully functioning offline HTML5 apps which will be fully features, like email, docs etc.

Solid State Disk. It's basically a hard drive but based on flash memory a bit like memory cards (to put it in 'friendly' language )

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a data storage device that uses solid-state memory to store persistent data. SSDs are distinguished from traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), which are electromechanical devices containing spinning disks and movable read/write heads. SSDs, in contrast, use microchips which retain data in non-volatile memory chips[1] and contain no moving parts.[1] Compared to traditional HDDs, SSDs are typically less susceptible to physical shock, quieter, and have lower access time and latency. SSDs use the same interface as hard disk drives, thus easily replacing them in most applications.[2]

@recursion, not solid state disk unfortunately, there isn't actually a disk shaped object involved
