    Default Wireless Problem (+11 Rep!)

    Hey,

So I was pleased to find my parents had got me a playstation 3 for christmas.

However, both my computer and playstation are on a wireless connection - and they are interupting each other! I realised this, as when I turned off my pc (after both connections dropping), my ps3 started working and finally managed to install the updates I wanted. Anyway, obviously I would rather not have this connection battle constantly but I also want to be able to use both devices.

    Any suggestions/ways to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Dom

go to your modem settings by typing in your ip address in the web address bar (usually 192.168.1.1) and check the settings on there (you'll need your internet user name and password) and see if you can change a setting so that they can run together.

if that doesn't work... then sorry i cant help!

Will try these later guys - alarms are set so can't get to the router now.

Matt, doesn't it do it automatically on a wired connection??

Triston, I have a BT HomeHub

It's because the PS3 creates its own WiFi zone I think, perhaps you should try changing the WiFi channel your router is using from 'Automatic' or a number to another number in case there's a conflict.

Odd, I assume they're both connecting to your router? They shouldn't be "fighting" if so. Try setting a static IP on the Playstation in the Network Settings.

one thing that worked for me when i tried to connect my xbox was that i had to tick a box on my computer in network preferences 'allow this device to accept multiple connections' or something

If all else fails, run an ethernet from your computer to the PS3. Connection share
But my coputer is less than a metre from a PS3, 360 and Wii, they all use the same wifi, and none of them 'drop eachother out' :S
