Default Extreme stress and how to deal with it

2 exams next week, pretty ill atm and a possibility of having lymphoma (form of cancer).

Revising is hard since i feel so crap atm and the whole cancer thing keeps playing on my mind.

Basically i'm at my wits end and i really feel like just shutting myself in a box.

How do you deal with stress?

Wow that really sucks. I hope it all gets better for you (especially the whole cancer thing).

Personally, i deal with stress by just blocking it out really. I'll go on the computer, chat to a few mates and play a few games, basically do my best to forget about it. I try not to stay up too late because that's when people start to feel even ****ter so try and get an early night for now.

But with exams you just have to get over that and just study like mad, generally that'll get ur mind off it too.

    Good luck with it all.

The best way is to just relax and try and take your mind off things, basically just what nemo said. Make sure to get a good night sleep and it'll help you feel much better.

    Good luck with everything. :]

oh my gosh, i'm really really sorry to hear that you're illl and that you have the possiblity of lymphoma, I hope everything works out ok.

Generally when I have stress I either, combat the source thats making it appear: in this case I know this probably may not be possible BUT studying could help reduce the stress.

Another way I would is that I would block the feelings from my thoughts, whenever you think of whats making you stressed, quickly change the subject of thought and smile, it might sound stupid but if you smile it makes you feel better, there was like scientific research and smiling even if theres nothign to smile about generally makes you feel better.

    Hope everything goes ok,

pamper the **** out of yourself and don't feel guilty about being selfish. bathing/food etcetc but not over excessive.
high intense exercise or anything with loud music. something that'll block all thoughts out. spend time around lots of family/friends....

ooooorr if it helps then deep breaths and quiet walks. which gives you time to actually think through it. that's most effective for me, by not avoiding it.

Also, just adding that by studying, u will have it distracting your mind and you'll feel better about your exams because you'll be more ready for them, and therefore hopefully less stressed about them then.

    Again, good luck

This! Sounds to me like you've got a lot on your mind atm but you haven't got the time to sort it all out. I'm not gonna lie and say I know how you feel and all that crap because I've never had a possible diagnosis of cancer (yet).

I walk a lot for a number of reasons (I hate buses etc) and one of them is that it means I do a lot of thinking and the more you go through things, the less stressed it makes you (in my experience).

I was getting a bit annoyed earlier in the week; I have an exam tomorrow and another one on Wednesday. I was getting rather worried about Psychology because I'd practically forgotten half of the attachment section! I read over my notes a couple of nights ago and I feel quite a lot better about it now. Read through your notes, make sure you understand everything and then take it easy.

I usually find that doing exercise (even yoga) helps me de-stress myself, maybe even going on a walk as someone suggested above could be a good idea. I also listen to my favourite songs in my room and just forget the world for a while, but that's if it's something I can't change, for example exam results, dentist appointment, etc.
If it's something I can change, such as how well I'm going to do in an exam, presentation, audition, race, etc, I get to base of the problem. But if you're stressed you won't be able to concentrate so in the end you'll end up more stressed than you were before. So do something you enjoy, or anything mentioned above, and give revision a go. When revision's out the way you'll feel good and positive about the exam!
And don't think the worst about possibly having lymphoma, it will make you even more stressed, if the thought pops into your head just think of something that makes you happy and don't dwell on it. Keep yourself busy so you're not tempted to think about it.
I hope you get well and pass your exams
