Revision Help :\

Well, On the 1st march i have a GCSE maths exam and its worth 30% of my final grade, and basically I'm proper stressing about it. If I don't get a b/a in this I won't be able to get a b/a overall and I might not be able to get on the course's I want in college. I get really bored with just reading out of my maths books and give up on revising, I basically need ideas on how to make my revision 'fun' in a sense, so I don't get bored and do other things. Help !?!?!

It's hard to make revision for maths 'fun but you can try going on the internet and browsing around on questions! When I did my GCSEs for maths I was provided with My Maths. It was the best way of revision for me but before my exam I also had a flick through my maths book.

The best thing I would say is go to a place where you have no distractions so that you can't get distracted easily and stop revising but it's also pretty important to take regular breaks during revision. It's also a good idea to plan out what you're going to revise and find a way that's best for you to revise i.e using mind maps or some other things like that!

I might do that but hardly anywhere is quiet in my house but i will plan out what I revise :}

Maybe get someone to help you and make it fun. Have a sleepover or something .

I'd like to point out that the only way to revise maths is to do questions, therefore you should do past papers and not stare at your book reading how to do questions. I've seen a lot of people fall into that trap.

can I ask why you are doing it in march? if so could you not just resit in may (or next year if you are year 10)?

I say just make sure you focus on the basics as well as the higher stuff. As alot of the basic stuff is intergrated into the higher stuff so would potentially help you, however do not focus on the basic stuff as that would be stupid, just flick through it.

I hate just reading when it comes to revising so thats why I always do past paper questions. I find it's much easier and it also gives you a feel for the sort of questions you will get asked. Do a few of these per day and you'll be fine.

I'm in year 9 and the Gcse is split into 3 parts 2 being 30 % each and 1 being 40 % and I can resit but I might not be able to get the course at college because of the resit (my brother couldn't do the course he wanted because he had to do a resit). Before anyone says anything about me only being in year 9 so therefore aren't doing GCSEs we have started early due to the year 9 SATs being abolished :} And thanks for tips guys :]

I did the same thing! When I used to do GCSE oh I miss those days! I presume that your exams will be roughly the same as the ones I did . Unit 1 is basically data handling and probability which is so simple, I just used mymaths going through the different sections like C-D, B-A and A* work, working my way up. Then did past papers to test my understanding and where I am struggling. You have alot of time before your exam so you could make a revision timetable of what days you are going to. Unit 1 is the easiest, so good luck!
