    Default First Post Edit

After the 15minutes is up we can no longer edit any of our posts, which I'm not botherd about if I'm honest and is perfectly fine.

What I want is to be able to change my first post in a thread I have created take for example this: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthrea...=684272&page=1

As you can see in a thread like that it would be very beneficial if I could edit the frist posts over and over. Wouldnt it be easier to allow us to edit our first posts whenever we wanted rather than needing to get a moderator to constantly update them, if they would even do that as I'm sure they have much better things to be doing. Plus it would be a nice little feature to have and surely couldnt cause any harm? Other forums have it so why can't we?

There are potential issues to be raised with this but I think you also have a good point and that the risks might outweigh the rewards. But a potential problem I see is that I don't think that vB allows for this. Would you need a hack to make this work? (And is there a hack to make this work?)

Moderator's are more than happy to edit posts for you - it is part of their job.

I don't agree with letting people edit their first post over and over as I think it could be highly abused by some and would be very hard for us to moderate. I know in cases like yours it would be very useful but there is no reason why a moderator can't edit your post for you.

I'm sure there would be a way to make this possible somehow, although if you ever want to add new information to a first post for now you can always send a PM to the section moderator or a super moderator and more often than not they'd be willing to append the content for you.

I have no idea about the technical side. So if it can't be done because of that then fair enough, but what risks are we talking here?

Yeh I just don't like to bug people over and over to do something for me thats what would put me off constantly PM a moderator to edit it for me.
Again the only risk I could see is if they edit the moderators warning, and surely if they continue to abuse it you could lock the thread?

Even with locking it they can still edit their post, we also technically don't deal with things that are edited out even though we have edit history also. Please don't feel bad for bugging our staff, it's what they are there for!

What about disabling that users rights? Would that be possible?
Or moving it to a hidden section? I dunno i'm a bit clueless on the topic just would like to see it implemented.

Aha we don't mind honestly, it's part of the job to help out the members.

Editing out a moderators edit is a bit of a serious rulebreak and I would rather not have to go around closing people's threads as I'm sure they would rather keep them open for discussion as well as a lot of the other forum members would.

I think it would be more abused than properly used which brings me to the point, is it necessary? I think there would be a very small minority that would use or need to use it appropriately.

We'd lose a lot of threads then the amount of people who already post something rude then edit it within the 15 minutes is worrying

But if the people were to abuse it then surely there thread wouldn't have much of a discussion going on within it? I'm not sure it would get abused, if you give people what they want they dont tend to use it in the wrong way. Dare I say it perhaps have a trial period put it in for a week or two if it constantly gets abused then take it away, give the people who abused it a slap on the wrist and be done with it, but make it well known that if it is abused then its going and they are being punished.

I'm suprised there is that much tbh.
