So i found a monster spawner during my second hour of minecraft.

During the second hour of my first day playing minecraft, i found a monster spawner in a very small cave right next to the surface.

My friend who introduced me to minecraft told me that he has played for many weeks and still is unable to find one.

So am i just extremely lucky and they are really rare? Or is he just really unlucky and they aren't very rare?

Or maybe somewhere in between.

I've only seen 2, both only because they had already been found by other people.

They are pretty rare.

I found a spider one and a zombie one, died both times... oops

I found two joined up the other day on the SMP server I play. :3

I found one right outside my house once. Was only about 7 blocks under the ground. I always skipped it but then one day I heard lots of zombies when I was getting some sand and dug down thinking it was just a cave and bam

I've found loads. I guess to balance my finding of these I can never find any diamond.

I've found about 6/7, about four of which were basically one or two blocks underground!

i've found 1 which was on the second day of playing but never since then

I've only ever found one, and it was only about 5 blocks below the surface - right underneath my house!
The noises were really creepy
