Thread: Ronaldo retires

    Default Ronaldo retires

One of the greatest players ever, always a joy to watch especially in 2002 world cup. Hope he is always remembered for being one of the best strikers ever and not just 'fat ronaldo'

    Rooney who?

I have to say he was a brilliant player in his prime but over the last few years I think he just lost it ...

Overall, what a great player and he should be remembered for his football skills and not just for being "fat" ronaldo

Sensational footballer, probably the best dribbling striker to date especially considering the fact that he's played through an era where people actually go for tackles unlike Pele and Maradonna's generation

Amazing player, brilliant career. It's a shame he let himself go over the last few years because if he had kept it up he would've probably been remembered as probably the best footballer of our generation. It's a shame people only think "fat" and you say Ronaldo, however he did have some great moments.

Sad loss for the game tbh.

An amazing striker with the greatest ability at one point, a prime example of how a footballer can lose prestige though.

I was young when he was at his peak, but I remember him destroying Germany in the 2002 final.

But, hey, I always remember him as that great player, but this game never got boring:

    Superb player.

I wouldn't say he 'lost it' as such- his goalscoring record is pretty impressive everywhere he has been. I do find it puzzling how decent Brazilian players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adriano seem to let themselves go as soon as they reach 30. Maybe it's because they've done it all, lack of motivation?

Well with Ronaldo it was his knee injuries that seemed to most affect his play I think - he was still a demon on the ball afterwards but that was when "fat Ronaldo" came to be, and despite the achievements and praise he got after his comeback I haven't seen him be quite the same footballer since sort of 2002 I guess
