    is jailbreaking an iphone illegal?

    and will it affect downloading the latest updates etc (currently on latest version - iphone 3gs)

    Its not illegal and you just restore the phone in iTunes and then upgrade (and wait for a jailbreak of that version).

    if you update your iphone after jailbreaking then you'll have to jailbreak again

    but greenp0ison released the untethered jailbreak for 4.2.1 like last week or something
