Surprised there hasn't been a thread made on this yet, unless it's in another forum, but yeah the end to the major awards ceremony brought a few shocks, to me the biggest shock being that with ten nominations, the Coen brothers' western 'True Grit' came out with nothing.
The King's Speech was the big winner on the night, which is great for the British film industry as a whole

A boring, predictable night. It was only ever a two-horse race between The King's Speech and The Social Network.

    And Inception?

Also apparently, Melissa Leo's swear word was the first time anyone had ever sworn in an Oscar's acceptance speech!

Inception didn't have a chance in hell at scooping the big prizes.

The Kings Speech and The Social Network thoroughly deserved their awards as did Inception.

Great night for British film (Colin Firth Best Actor, The King's Speech best film) and all round good night.

That best director gong was not deserved at all, Fincher has worked for decades in this industry and Hooper walks in with a formulaic and dully shot one-man show (Firth more than deserves his gong) and takes that Best Director crown that Fincher so rightfully deserves.

If Nolan was in the run, I'd be even more angry.

No point in being angry anyway. Bah humbug/
