    Default New laptop.

Well for my birthday, i'm getting a laptop for uni, this will be for gaming and work.

I want it to look slightly flashy but for a good cost (£500-£900) preferably.

I'm using ebay, but only buying from new or referbished, so please no lectures on where to buy it .

The two i'm looking at the moment are

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DELL-XPS-M1730...item5197ffe7fb

    and

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ACER-ASPIRE-89...item53e60bbc25

Both are impressive machines but the top one got generally mixed views and seems like a love it or hate it laptop.

any useful comments on the two or any new suggestions will be appreciated and given +rep

    Many thanks.

    Kieran.

The first one I wouldn't go for because fair enough it's a good RAM but the HDD is a bit low for the price.
The second one is good but again the HDD is a bit crappy for the price, but everything else in the laptop is good because it's a gaming one.

What will you be using the laptop for?
    Alexandra!

Watch you're graphics card, if its going to be a gaming laptop, Personally I strongly recommend Sony Vaio.

If that's your current range, go for one that's around the 900 mark.
Personally, I'd look at ones from other countries as you'd get fairly decent ones for even cheaper

90 day warranty on the Asus and no warranty on the Dell? Wouldn't touch it with a stick.

    True that.

You're best off buying new direct from the manufacturer IMO, at least then you get a 1 year warranty generally.
