Default Why is alcohol used as an excuse?

Or partitaly an excuse. It really pisses me off. I was at a point in my life where I drank excessive alcohol, I thought it was "cool" but that's besides the point, after two litres of vodka I was so drunk I could barely stand but the next day I could still remember vaguely what I did. If I can remember what I did after 2 litres of vodka why can't others after a few pints? Oh and I'm not trying to act hard and cool for drinking two litres of vodka, it was stupid and childish of me. For three days after that night, I was vomiting constantly, puking up my guts (literally) and I didn't realise people used that much alcohol to OD.

So as well as a discussion I hope what I've shared makes people think twice about drinking tones of alcohol. It really isn't a nice feeling, vomiting blood for three days, scaring my family to death and still feeling slightly drunk two days after because the alcohol was still in my blood stream, I'm surprised I wasn't hospitalized and pumped.

The question that sums up the thread:

Why does people feel they can use being drunk as an excuse? I'm not sure if its different per person but for me no matter how much I drink I can remember vaguely what I did.

    Serious replies please,
    Rich.

Just because you remembered doesnt mean you meant to do it.

But i get what you mean, ive never been drunk enough to do something TOTALLY STUPIDLY STUPID. Like, ive been suggestable and allowed things to happen (like letting someone smash my phone on the floor at full force (darn me bragging and saying its indestructible), but it being a nokia still works like a dream (guess i proved my point) ;D). And i definitely dont remember a few things that happen when drunk, but like when reminded i can totally remember them so mehhh. I dont get how people can do like insanely crazy and stupid things, but hey everyones different i guess

Oh believe me I didn't remember everything that night but at the same time when I'm drunk, whether it's a few pints or to a point where I can't actually walk. I can control myself mentally. If someone as dumb and idiotic as myself can do it, so can everyone else so it shouldn't be an excuse. Oh and what would we do without the good oul nokias?

The only person I know who does this blames their stupidity on alcohol, but blames themselves for drinking too much.

That doesn't mean they dont keep doing it, though!

Because alcohol is a drug and it changes the way your mind thinks. People do things they wouldn't do whilst sober, so it's a pretty good excuse

Although, I think it depends on the situations. Most the silly things I do whilst drunk are from misunderstandings. Like last night, I got a little pissed off. Me and a friend were playing pool, I paid for the last game and there was a pound on the pool table (we were using the pool table, we put the deposit down for it), so I put the pound in thinking it was ours and this guy had a big go at me because he put it on the table so he could play next. I told him I was sorry and that I would pay him it back when I get a drink (I only had a note) and he wouldn't accept my apology or pound. He shouldn't have put the pound down without telling us imo. But then again, that would happen whilst sober too lol.

Why reserve that only for alcohol though?

Yeah this, it builds up your confidence.

Plus the fact you're doing something that you wouldn't usually do will make it even more fun

Some people have different experiences of alcohol - I find that I can pretty much remember everything even if I'm completely wasted, some people just can't. It doesn't mean they're lying or whatever... but using it as an excuse it kinda pathetic, of course it lowers your inhibitions and stuff, but it's not a 'get out of jail free' card as people seem to use it. If you think you're going to do something stupid that night... DON'T DRINK TOO MUCH. I've done a few things I regret whilst drunk, but I don't blame that on the alcohol - it's still me who did them ;l
