Default Restore Blackberry Curve 8520 to factory settings?

Well after getting my BB on Saturday, we quickly realised I can't send/receive texts, the email has a weird settin where I can only make an 'enterprise email' and I can make calls but not receive them. I figured the guy in the shop must've set it up wrong so I rang the help number (789) but they couldn't help so I've decided to restore to factory settings..but I don't know how.

I googled it however the way most of the sites said, I can't find. They say Options > Security Options > General Options...

But I can't find the general options in security options, it may be a different make, or just that the guy in the shop set it up wrong so badly that I can't even do that.

help that works = +Rep thanks

it should say 'software wipe' but depends on the model. options > security > security wipe > type 'blackberry'
take it back to the store, as if you wipe it yourself you'll need to wait longer for a replacement, whereas if you take it to them and they do it, it shows that you've gotten help previously and the handset is unusable.

your best bet is actually to update it. install the disk in the box, join the phone with the usb cable, load the desktop manager, click update, click 'yes' to back up and allow it to update.

people often forget that handsets need updated. your phone is likely to be on software version 4.6... whereas it should be on 5.0... handsets can sit for months after creation before they're shipped and sold therefore their software always needs an update.
