I learnt the best term EVER from Boris Johnson - ignoratio elenchi. Been DYING to use it in a sentence for quite some time. And yesterday I learnt that a fish story is an exaggerated story.

And yes I do watch Louis Theroux sometimes.

Actually, habitual means you can't stop, not having no shame, it just so happens that those degenerates in the prison/jail system are shameless and habitual.

And yes, I love Theroux's gonzo docs.

Ignoratio elenchi (also known as irrelevant conclusion or irrelevant thesis) is the informal fallacy of presenting an argument that may in itself be valid, but does not address the issue in question.

ignoratio elenchi
1. a purported refutation of a proposition that does not in fact prove it false but merely establishes a related but strictly irrelevant proposition
2. the fallacy of arguing in this way
