Default Copyright Law - Digital Makeover

I read this in a magazine the other week and thought I'd post it.

For those who aren't aware, the current copyright law is very outdated, and there have been many confusions in the digital world due to this.

Apparently due to the old law, it is actually illegal to transfer legal tracks to a mobile/mp3 player device. While no one has been done over this in the past, if I'm correct, it has led to confusion.

It looks like that will change, with a new law, which will allow copying legally bought stuff, for playing on mobile devices or creating backups.

As long as they only modernise it to the standards where copying legally bought stuff is acceptable, then it's fine. Hopefully they do not touch any other parts of the Law. My main fear is they Americanise it.

I think they are against the American version if I'm correct.

It's not the "American" version. It's the MPAA/RIAA's version.
