    Lightbulb High Alert Thread/Sub-Forum

Okay so I made a thread about a new tip on how to keep yourself safe and prevent your account getting hacked, it was merged with another thread by Jordesh (no disrespect or anything).

I just had the idea that if we make a thread or Sub-Forum and copy the comments that are useful/address an issue (for example hacking) that people need to know about, get copied to another thread or Sub-Forum. As well as a thread/post on how to keep yourself safe with good anti-virus etc programs. I think it would be very beneficial because when a thread is merged people don't usually want to read the whole thread, they don't get to see other bits of information. Where if it is all in the one place where no one can comment on it, it would be a lot easier to read and extremely beneficial!

EDIT: Forgot to add, this thread or Sub-Forum could be situated in the Habbo News/Rumours Forum. Sorry if this sounds confusing, I'm very tired!

    Thoughts?

I like the idea, Mark. I totally agree with the part about not wanting to read the whole thread, just the important information.

Seems unnecessary when the majority of people will know what to do, and if they don't they can simply ask. A sub-forum will be a waste of resources (they're becoming redundant anyway ) and a thread will just means more space taken up in the forum you've suggested, which is a popular one. If your account is jeopardised the only options are: Contact Habbo, scan your computer for malicious content. A whole thread seems a bit much for all of this, especially when Bobba - Scams - and Bugs, Errors and Glitches is used for this (as it is something to swear about e.g. bobba).

True but the sub-forum will also make it easier for new members of the forum, (like me), who at first found it quite difficult to navigate the forum.

It wouldn't make it easier at all! Think of a forum as a house:

The main hallway is the main forum view. In the main hallway you get doors leading to corridors (which are the categories - Habbox, Help / Queries / Feedback, Habbo etc.)

In each corridor are more doors. One corridor, Habbo, has the doors labelled News, Cool Rooms etc.

Then you get sub-forums which are more rooms inside the rooms, so in the door "Bobba - Scams - Bugs Errors and Glitches" you get smaller rooms called "Bobba, Scams and Bugs, Errors and Glitches in Habbo".

My point is, you're essentially making more rooms making a maze in a house to navigate. Sub-forums should only be created if a parent forum (Habbox Feedback) has too many topics to talk about in the space of one page. New members won't be able to understand a forum anyway, the best you can do is simplify it by making less forums or making it obvious what each one does. Sub-forums just complicate things, especially when the proposed sub-forum would only have a handful of topics, which most people would not read as they understand online security.

A thread could work, but it shouldn't be in Habbo News and Rumours as it isn't news or a rumour, so it would be taking up valuable space. If anything it should go in Bobba - Scams - Bugs Errors and Glitches, but it won't be seen in there which is why making such a thread seems a bit pointless, when people can ask for help when and if they need it, which I think is what they do now.

It's a good idea, don't get me wrong, but there's no where to put them and people will always ask for help if their accounts are compromised.

Thanks for going into more detail! It has made it easier to understand and I now agree with you. The description about the house made it easier to understand, thanks!
