Default Theory Test - What to bring?

I've got my theory test tomorrow and I was looking over the stuff I'm meant to bring along for proof of identity. The exact words telling you what stuff to bring are:

    Remember to bring:
a valid signed UK (or Northern Ireland) photocard licence - the photocard and paper counterpart must be presented, or
an old style valid signed UK (or Northern Ireland) paper driving licence and a valid passport.

What does it mean where it says "...and paper counterpart"? I'm pretty sure if I have such a thing then I have no idea where it is. My plan was just to bring my 'photocard', as they call it, and my passport. Will that be alright or is this paper counterpart essential? Thanks.

No worries, found it. Please close thread.

You sure you've definitely found the right thing? Your driving license's paper counterpart is the coloured sheet that came in the envelope along with your provisional "photocard" when you ordered it.

Paper license is the piece of GREEN PAPER that your card came on. If you lose it you have to send off for a new one. Can be anywhere between £20-22. I lost mine and got a new one from govt. website. If you've lost it or forgot it - you can't do your test tomorrow.

    superhappy.

I misplaced mine when I had to do my theory. Had to order a new one. For both driving tests you need BOTH parts and need to keep them in a safe place.

i'm the star in the reasonably priced car!

What everyone else says plus you don't need your passport.

I forgot my paper part of my driving license when I went for my theory and had to get a £30 taxi home to get it and come back again but frankly I'd rather a taxi driver had the £30 than the DVLA again.

    I passed
50/50 on the multiple choice, 61/75 on the hazard perception. I was pretty nervous for the hazard perception but it was fine in the end.
