Work Experience?

I need to find some work experience for my university application.
I'm applying for Film and Television studies courses so I need relevant work experience and it'd proving impossible to find.
BBC, ITV and C4 all have their own schemes but I've missed all the application deadlines for them, and so far all I've done is sent emails to about 50 production companies in London.
Am I missing something? Should I be phoning them instead? I only really need one week of experience in some form of television or film work place, and as it is unpaid, I would've thought that these smaller companies would kill for an extra pair of hands...

I would try phoning them as well, least then you can get a direct response.

Have you tried asking your uni for a list of places which take work experience?

Most companies don't really like work experience (as I have found out) as some think its easier without them as then they wouldn't have to show them what to do etc. and in case something goes wrong and its your fault.

Yepp you need to phone them to get a straight responce.

Yeah agree with the others, perhaps give them a phone call!

Just like applying for jobs via email, it's rare to get a responce. If you give them a ring, they can't really ignore you or put the phone down like they could ignore and delete an email.

Ok thanks, I'll try making some calls tomorrow. I'm planning on going into central London tomorrow anyway so I'll probably ask a few of them face to face.

And in response to the asking the university;
I can't yet because I'm not at one. I need this work experience to help get me into a good one! But thanks for the replies.
