    If my mobile has built in WiFi, do i still need a simcard in the phone to excess the internet?

    Well, how are you paying for the internet? :S

    Mobile service providers charge to access the internet and it's only if you're using other ways of paying for it (like an iPod, accessing the internet via a home network) that you can do such a thing without the sim card - I believe.

    Basically, he's using the phone without the sim card to connect to a wifi network such as the one he has at home. By him doing this, he is able to browse his home internet on the phone without a sim card.

    If you have Android, or a phone that enables you to use it without a SIM card, yes.
