    Default diet based on just calories?

    i've been wondering this for a while

    if you wanted to lose weight, could you just base your diet on say 1000 calories a day? - ignoring sat fats, fats, salts & sugar

    i read somewhere that this works

    If you're not 'burning' more calories than you eat, you're not going to lose weight, no matter how little of them you take in.

    I have no idea about all this calories **** and never took a single notice of it ever.

    I've found lately eating a bowl of cereal when i'm hungry as been helping me lose weight.

    then you're not going to lose weight. i dont know of any low-calorie foods that have high fat content, i'd say there's usually a positive correlation between number of calories and higher percentage of fat

    In most occasions, low calories = low content of everything else. But this isn't always the case...

    I read in an article, quite recently, that on average, 1 slice of bread - contains more salt than a bag of crisps : L Make you think twice about bread again. Also, a study was recently 'finished' in which scientists discovered that exercising and being more fit, will help you lose more weight, than changing your diet.

    Also, on most diets - dramatically reducing calories does work for a few weeks, but then your body gets used to it, so the rate you lose weight slows down meaning it's not a long term solution, especially considering most people regain their weight after a diet, or have a 'weight rebound'.

    So, although calories , salt, fat etc. is important - it doesn't necessarily mean the best solution (some salads have 50% of your salt intake) - the best solution for losing weight.. is exercising (as much as you may hate it - it's usually the best solution) .

    White Bread is the leading cause of Obesity in America and the UK - just going back to Wazz's comment there.

    Regarding to the 1,000 Calories, its not reccomended to eat that low. - Anything below 1k calories a day will send your body into starvation mode.

    If you want to loose weight, Exercise is obviously important.

    If you want to boost the speed you loose weight - some people have lost up to 11lbs a week using this method;

    Negative Calorie Foods.

    Even though they arent really 'negative' calorie - everything gives calories.
    The name is judged by the following;

    A length of cucumber contains roughly 9 calories.
    Obviously chewing and digesting the cucumber will use more calories then it actually gives, therefore making it a negative calorie.
    Despite you will loose no more then a few calories using this method, its designed/encouraged to snack on these foods rather then there high calorie opposites.
    By snacking on these youll be lowering your calorie intake, but still feel satisfied after eating.

    A few Negative calorie Fruits + Vegtables;

    What makes these negative calories foods?

    over 70% Of the content itself is water.
